Teachers as Artists...

During a recent workday I opened up the art room to the staff. They were able to come in and glaze a bisque mug. We had a great time and the results were AMAZING! Check them out....

Fish Update...

Hello there,

We have definitely been "fishing" here at Livingston the last few weeks. I thought it was time to update the blog so that you could see what we've been doing. Third grade watched the movie "Rainbow Fish" and then we created our own version. They are BEAUTIFUL!

Here's a few for you to check out. As always, if you would like to see a larger photo just click on the image.

Fish, fish, fish.....

Greetings!
Welcome back... I'm looking forward to a great year. We here at Livingston are embracing the "Fish Philosophy" for the school year. It's all about choosing your attitude, being there, playing and making their day. To kick off the year all students will be making fish in art class. Each grade level will make their fish in a different way. There will soon be fish EVERYWHERE ! Check back and I'll be posting photographs of the students artwork.

In the art room this year the rules are:
"Get Caught" being : kind, creative, courteous, respectful and responsible.

If you every have any questions feel free to contact me by phone or email.
Thanks,
Looking forward to a "Great Catch" of a year!

Hello there,

Are you ready to start a new year? I know I am. Technology has worked with me over the summer so that I'll be able to update this from school. So stop by often and check out what is going in the art room. Leave a comment so that I know you've been here.

Look forward to seeing you all next Monday!

Monochromatic Animals

The fifth grade closed out the year with one of my favorite projects. Its not the project as much as the results. I am always amazed at the beautiful paintings that result from this lesson. In fact they were so beautiful I felt the need to put a display up in the hallway with only a week to go this year. I wanted others to get the opportunity to enjoy them as much as I have. I will post a few now and a few later. They are monochromatic. They could use one color and its tints and shades.

Clay Mugs

I talked about fifth grade's clay mugs earlier this year and never had an opportunity to put photos of the finished mugs up.

Birds in Nests....

First grade recently made birds and eggs out of clay. They also gathered items a bird would use to build a nest. The students made their nests, added the eggs and then put their bird in.
