Spider/Web

A few of the kindergarten classes painted spider webs this week. One class had time to also construct three dimensional spiders. We used Crayola model magic. They were adorable... wish we wouldn't have used the white pipe cleaners though. It makes it tough to see on the web.

Line

Okay, its been a little while since I updated. The fifth grade clay projects are coming along great. I can't wait to post some photos of the finished mugs. This week first grade was doing a line project. The objective was to utilize many varieties of lines. Many of the students decided to put their lines on a pumpkin because of the time of year. I've posted a few of the students line projects.

Owl Moon

Last week I read the book Owl Moon by Jane Yolen to the first grade. We then made an owl. We used empty spools to print on the feathers. This week we finished the owls and cut them out. We made a moon and glued it all together. I think they look really good...what do you think?

Positive/Negative Leaves

Sorry it took a little longer than I thought it would to get these pictures up....

Greetings,

Hello there,
It definitely feels like fall has arrived. Its chilly this evening. We are doing many fall projects in art this week. The fourth grade is doing positive/negative space leaves. They look great. I'll post a few examples on here sometime real soon. Feel free to make a comment when you visit the blog. I'd love to know that people are actually checking it out. I was excited to see there's a follower now. I think if you sign up for that you will be notified every time the blog is updated. I am reading the book Owl Moon to the first grade and we are making some beautiful owls. They won't be finished until next week....
Well, I'm going to go get a cup a tea..... see you later...

Update

Hello there,
I didn't get a chance to update last week. Sorry about that..... Fifth grade started their clay mug project. Usually fifth grade does clay at the end of the school year, but the last couple years we have been scrambling to find the time between SOL tests to get finished. I thought we'd do it early so that we had plenty of time. Thanks to all those of you who sent in gallon size zip-loc bags. We use them to store our clay from week to week so that it doesn't dry out. With only 45 minutes of art a week, it takes many weeks to complete the project. Cleanup takes many of our minutes also. The kids love clay, each grade does a different project, but everyone does get to make something out of clay.
The other grades are working on various fall projects. I have some really nice photos of first grades fall trees. I'll try to get a few of those on for you to look at later this evening.
Check back often, and please leave a comment or two so I know you found the page...
