Sorry, its been a while since I've updated this blog. I'm going to try to get it going again. This year as an opening project I had EVERYONE in the school create a self portrait. After all the creating and cutting I assembled them all on a large sheet of bulletin board paper and displayed it in the hallway. It is based on the book series of Where's Waldo. I reintroduced the children to those books. Evidently they aren't very popular anymore. Instead of Waldo we chose to look for our principal Mrs. Cagle. It's been a lot of fun. Our display is getting a lot of response in the hallway!

Third Grade - Compass Rose
Each third grade student made a compass rose in art class. It was really a fun project and helped reinforce what we learn in the classroom as well.
First Grade - Penguins
The first grade recently made penguins after I read the book "Penguins, Penguins, Everywhere! They came out adorable!!!

Second Grade - Nutcracker
Second grade did these nutcrackers back in December, they came out so good that I thought I'd share them even though its now January.
Catching up....
I've been working on another blog with the other art teachers in the County and have left this one go. I will try to do better on keeping up with this one as well.
Fourth Grade did a quick one day "snowflake" project. They came out really good and we had a lot of fun doing it.

First Grade Robots
First grade created robots. They used the primary colors - red, yellow and blue pieces of paper. We also used only geometric shapes - circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles. After we created our robots we went back in and added details with black markers. Fun activity!
Season Wheels.....
Second grade was busy making season wheels. We talked about the seasons, what they looked like, what they felt like, and things you could do during that season. They then drew one specific tree in each section of the wheel. They went on to make each tree look as it would in each of the four seasons. We attached the wheel to a piece of paper with a paper fastener.
